I only buy cause I am sad, and I am sad cause I buy

Found this scientific thingy interesting. The story here.
I thought is very thought provoking because it affects me the same as the ages it lists. I get depressed and want to go buy something. And now that the gov't gave me and my wifey $1200 to spend on the economy, I am feeling like spending it. Yet we really need to save it. What do you think?

robot love

Maybe good, maybe not so good. You be the judge.

Personally robots scare me. To think they could some day take over and kill us all. That would not be cool at all.

Happy May day.

Don't be like these 3. Well be cute like these three but you should always think for yourself.

April 29-April 30 2008

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. Life in Athens is a bit turbulent, weather is crazy, midterms like "woah" and uhhh....I'm 22 years old as of April 29th, 2008. I'm missing the YG like crazy, but hoping you are all having fun in the activities Keith plans for you guys and I will be seeing you guys when I come home for the summer. Hope school is going well for all of you. I will no doubt be looking forward to seeing your familiar faces when I return home.

Until then... Peace, love, and soccer (my current fixation at the moment)

Hunger Walk, anyone?

The Free store Food Bank's annual hunger walk/5k run is on Memorial Day. I've noticed that MEAC and CAIN (both of whom spoke at St. Mary a few weeks ago) are participating, as well as our neighboring friends at Redeemer. Perhaps we could put together our own team...is anyone up for that? Check out the link below and let me know.

Can you find me?

It's like where's waldo but without the funny hat.

Oh wait I found one with a funny hat.

It is a great for a Friday reflection. Enjoy.

Earth Day.

Found a very nice quiz, one similar to the one you took Sunday. (click on the pic to go to the quiz).

I would have scored better if I didn't drive my kids to school with my hummer. Do'h.
How did you do?

Earthquake!

Chad slept through it, but I didn't! At first I assumed it was an earthquake, but then I remembered we don't have earthquakes in Ohio, so I thought it was a thunderstorm. Once I saw it wasn't raining, I was really confused!! What a rare and weird event to have here. Does this mean I should cancel my vacation to California this year, since I've already experienced a little piece of it at home?

Micah's Path

For anyone interested in social justice, there is a meeting tonight for a group called Micah's Path which works for social justice in Cincinnati. The meeting is at the St. Mary Seton Center at 7:00pm.

For anyone interested in South Park, here is a funny clip from last night's new episode about what happens when the people of South Park can't get on the internet. For those of you literary fans out there, it's a satire of the Grapes of Wrath.

South Africa...and North Africa...and Central Africa (I want to go to Africa!)

Sometimes God likes to tap me on the shoulder and remind me about things we've talked about during our Sunday meetings (and maybe sometimes I'm just hearing voices...I should get that checked out). But this particular time, I left our meeting thinking about how exciting it was that many of you expressed interest in going to Uganda, but knowing that I may forget all about it in a day or two. Instead I got a call from a High School friend who will be going to South Africa (Cape Town, to be specific) to work for Operation Smile. She wanted to know if I'd come to visit her this August, since she remembered that I had been dying to go ever since I read Cry, The Beloved Country as a kid. I've already been scouring the internet for information, and while I may not be able to make it out there (let's just say current flight prices are either completely out of the Ferkingbeal budget, or require 72 hours to get there and another 72 to get home again), it's given me a renewed sense that I WILL go there and I'll go soon. While I'm deeply committed to helping those in my own community, city, and country, it baffles me that we have an entire continent that the rest of civilization has pretty much kicked under the rug. I'd love to go and check it out. And if helping others doesn't inspire you (shame on you), google image "Cape Town beaches" and maybe you'll be hit with a sudden moment of inspiration. So what do you say, folks? Do we go? And if so, how do we raise the money?

TAX day: death and taxes

Our channel 12 news can be funny sometimes.
Here is an example of great news reporting.

2nd post.

The best I could do for today was a news story about graffiti.

If you got something better you give it a try.

Could you imagine a school getting closed for that!?! That is insane. What kinds of stuff would you write if you graffitid your school?

I would totally write something like:

1st Blog.

In an effort to create communication, create creativity, and to have some Internet fun, I am introducing the SMYM blog.

Give it a try, post something to discuss or show off, and just be plan funky.

As this is in its trial period, feedback is a must, and your input is very important.
